We offer many services at CustomEYES Optometry. Not only will your eye examination be performed with attention to detail but we will also incorporate automated instruments into every examination as well as high resolution retinal scans if you choose.
Buying new eyeglasses can be confusing but not with our experienced staff. Don't worry about thick/thin lenses, coatings or anything else. They will talk you through it in an easy to follow manner. You also won't be sold anything you don't want or need.
We provide comprehensive eye exams for all ages and routinely check for conditions like: crossed/lazy eyes, cataracts, macular degeneration, glaucoma and so much more! General guidelines for the frequency of eye examinations are:
Infants & Children: annually starting at 6 months old (OHIP covered)
Adults (20-64): At least every 2 years
Seniors (65+): At least every 18 months (OHIP coverage varies)
Our clinic was the first clinic in Tillsonburg to implement computerized eyeglasses fitting. We began doing it with EVERY pair of eyeglasses dispensed from our clinic in 2012. Most clinics still use a felt tip marker like they did 50 years ago! Fitting errors can be significantly reduced by using a computer and digital sensors to fit your eyeglasses. You will also adapt to you new eyeglasses faster and experience less "swim" effect with progressive lenses (no-line bifocals).
Our office uses optical coherence tomography (OCT) to take 3D scans and images of your retina and optic nerves. OCT scans and images aid in earlier detection of conditions like: cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, artery/vein occlusions, strokes, retinal detachments and more!
Peripheral visual field testing is available onsite to aid in diagnosing diseases like glaucoma and pituitary tumors. A visual field test is often performed to determine if people meet driving standards for the Ministry of Transportation. They can also used to determine if a stroke has affected your peripheral vision and to what extent.

Although good 30 or more years ago, monthly replacement contact lenses are only fit occasionally these days. We primarily fit soft contact lenses that are replaced EVERY SINGLE DAY. When you wear daily contact lenses, your eyes will be less dry, less red and your vision will be optimal every single day rather than just the first few days of the month.

Dr. Nelles had his LASIK eye surgery in 2006 at TLC in London by Dr. Bruce Nichols. Although Dr. Nichols recently retired, we are lucky to have a few excellent surgeons in our area.
